Rosario A. Garcellano

ROSARIO A. GARCELLANO started out as a reporter of the weekly political magazine Graphic shortly before it was closed down at the imposition of martial law. She worked in various magazines and newspapers before joining the pioneering staff of the Inquirer, and was its opinion editor when she retired. She was a fellow of the John S. Knight Program for Professional Journalists at Stanford University. She is the author of “Mean Streets: Essays on the Knife Edge” (a recipient of the National Book Award) and "Necessary Contexts: Essays for our Times." She attended the College of the Holy Spirit Manila and the University of the Philippines Diliman.
